Michael H. Olson
Hi! I am a professional editor and publicist, and I have started this blog as a hobby with my son, Thaseus, who loves to play D&D and plans to make contributions to this site with me. We both live in Mount Vernon, Washington.
We work very hard at updating this site to provide you with interesting content, so if you feel so inclined please leave us a small donation by clicking on one of the HouseRules4DND advertisements to the right. Thanks!
Until recently, I was an editor and writer for PRWeb, an online press-release distribution firm based in Washington State (2005-2010). Before that, I was a newspaper journalist for eight years. My achievements include thirteen awards in feature writing received from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association’s Better Newspaper Contest (1998-2003), a degree from Western Washington University (1996) with a double major in journalism and history, a scholarship from the WNPA Foundation (1996), and several articles and short stories published in national magazines. My favorites are “Black Sorcerer,” an adventure module published in volume 2, number 3 of the Avalon Hill Game Company’s HEROES magazine; and “Looking for Bog Trout,” a feature article published in the May 1998 issue of GAME & FISH magazine.
Oh, and I've written a soon-to-be published fantasy book titled CLEANSED.
Anyone who would like to hire me as a Web site designer, or to write and publish press releases, or as an editor / writer, or to launch a social-media campaign, or to search-engine optimize materials for the Internet, should visit my business Web site and contact me from that site's contact page.
This is my Son, an Avid D&D Player
Hi! I am Thaseus. I would like to tell you a bit about myself. I love mathematics. I am really good at it for my age (I am 10 years old). I am currently trying to learn how to do calculus and trigonometry. I also love to read. My favorite books are The Hobbit, the Harry Potter series, and the Percy Jackson series. I am about to read the Lord of the Rings this week for the first time, but I have already seen all the movies. I also love to play D&D, of course, and to run my own campaigns. My last encounter involved a halfling gang. I hope to make this site better by adding articles and helping my dad test out house rules. My first article was "Riddles and Puzzles," which was the first article on this site (other than announcing its launch). It was based on an actual adventure I ran my dad through just recently, and it was inspired by riddles I read in The Hobbit, which I just finished reading. I hope to make this Web site better, and most of all, to make D&D a better game with house rules.
